Seeing Lives Transformed Firsthand
Infrared therapy changed Sunlighten founder Jason Lincoln Jeffers’s life. For more than a decade, Jason suffered from chronic illness and relied on traditional medicine to manage his condition. It was only when he discovered infrared saunas that he truly began to heal. Jason founded Sunlight Saunas (now Sunlighten) in 1999 to make more people aware of the remarkable healing power of infrared that he personally experienced. The Zacks make a big impact out of the gate. Soon after they joined the company, Solocarbon® infrared technology was born. The first-of-its-kind carbon heater changes the industry by combining high infrared emissivity with large surface area for high efficiency. Ceramic heaters become obsolete.

Sunlight Saunas launches the first far infrared portable sauna in a multi-dome design & proves to be highly effective. Solo® Core Body Testing shows a statistically significant rise in core body temperature with a Solocarbon® heater, vital for a deep detoxifying sweat.
Heart Healthy Sauna
Sunlight Saunas prove heart healthy with a clinically study showing Solocarbon® infrared therapy lowers blood pressure with regular use making way to our partnership with the American Heart Association. In the same year, the Signature® Series is launched with heart-healthy Solocarbon heaters – the first wooden sauna with carbon technology, floor and side heaters and Magne-Seal® Assembly.The Zacks make a big impact out of the gate. Breaking New Ground
Sunlight Saunas breaks ground with a new headquarters and new innovation. After moving to a new 40,000 square foot headquarters in Overland Park, Sunlighten gets busy adding another layer onto the sauna experience with the next ground-breaking technology – Acoustic Resonance Therapy. This enhancement feels like a musical massage that brings you to a deeper state of relaxation.
Sunlight Day Spa Opens
Solocarbon® innovation proves to be so powerful for healthy lifestyles that that demand for treatments increases. The company opened Sunlighten Day Spa in their headquarters to bring Sunlighten to the Kansas City market while finding key learnings for their commercial customers around the globe that offer Sunlighten treatments.
Small Business of the Year
Sunlight Saunas is humbled to receive the Small Business of the Year – “Mr. K” award. from the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. The award goes to a company that has shown growth or sustainability of their business with strong employee relations and a record of giving back to the community. Sunlighten was #1 out of more than 1400 business nominated!
Sunlighten Saunas Featured on Oprah
Sunlight Saunas is ecstatic to receive a call from Harpo Studios for a request to appear on the Extreme Life Extension episode. Renowned cardiologist, Dr. Mehmet Oz, wants to feature Sunlight Saunas because of the clinically-backed heart-healthy benefits of Solocarbon technology including lower blood pressure, weight loss and increased circulation.
Re-branding for the Future
Under the same ownership and with a renewed sense of corporate mission, Sunlight Saunas changes their name to Sunlighten in order to expand their cutting-edge wellness products over the coming years. The company is the same, but the new corporate identity opens the door for a more diverse portfolio of wellness products imbued with technology–hence its new tagline, “Empowering Wellness”.

Sunlighten launches the next generation sauna with breakthrough Solocarbon® 3-in-1 infrared technology – the only sauna technology with three separate heating elements to emit near, mid and far infrared at the optimal wavelength to precisely target health needs. This patented innovation leads to appearances on the Dr. Oz Show, Ellen and Price is Right.

Sunlighten answers the demand for an industrial-grade, ADA compliant sauna. The new Community sauna features Solocarbon far infrared technology, industrial-strength electrical wiring and ADA-compliant ramp, door and interior space.

After 15 years of raising the bar, Sunlighten celebrates its anniversary by launching the new Android-powered mPulse sauna.
